![]() Fans initially assumed that we’d be getting Injustice 3 first since NetherRealm has followed a schedule of releasing the DC fighting games in-between mainline Mortal Kombat games. Series co-creator Ed Boon and NetherRealm Studios have been tight-lipped about the studio’s next project anyway. Several reports surfaced beforehand all pointing to Mortal Kombat 12 being in development including a leak from the game’s own actor for Johnny Cage. Mortal Kombat 12 might be one of the gaming industry’s worst kept secrets right now. “There’s lots more to come, including the highly anticipated Mortal Kombat 12 and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, games also set for release this year with ambitious launch projections,” said Zaslav. The sequel has been the subject of several rumours over the past year but now it looks like it’s finally confirmed in a rather strange way. The next entry in the violent fighting game series will arrive four years after its last mainline entry, Mortal Kombat 11, though it also marks the first subsequent Mortal Kombat release in years where developer NetherRealm Studios hasn’t broken the schedule with an Injustice game in-between releases.ĭuring an earnings call yesterday, Zaslav let slip that Warner Bros plans to release Mortal Kombat 12 in 2023. Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav has announced Mortal Kombat 12 and confirmed that it will be releasing this year along with Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League as part of its annual plans.
