(I accidentally killed Oda because katanas are OP in this game. And indeed, if V kills Oda and/or doesn’t choose the Arasaka ending, Goro hates her and never speaks to her again. Johnny is also correct about Takemura being loyal to a fault to Arasaka. Johnny hates Takemura because Goro bullies V into helping him while constantly insulting her for being a “two bit” street rat and treating her as if she’s at his beck and call.In fact, Johnny hates anyone who mistreats V, and the fact that he gets pissed even when just V’s feelings are hurt shows that it’s not just about preserving her body so that he can take it over: he is protective of V and gets angry on her behalf. One thing I find pretty amusing about Johnny is that he hated Judy in the beginning exactly the way I did. In fact, Judy’s internalized sexism is probably one of the reasons he starts off hating her. He’s a little short-sighted and fails to understand how someone could become a joytoy (so his judgement is actually kind of harsh), but he’s not ultimately sexist for thinking a place like Clouds should be shut down. Johnny was an asshole, mistreated his lovers (male and female), but I don’t feel he’s a misogynist. I’m surprised by the people calling Johnny a misogynist while Judy, a female character, is sitting there literally making porn for a living. Johnny dislikes the joytoys in Night City, and it’s because they sell themselves and relinquish their freedom, allowing pimps to put a leash and collar on them. As if someone’s worth should be measured by how well they give oral. There is honestly nothing so sickening as riding in the car with her during the Automatic Love quest and listening to her gush about what a great prostitute Evelyn was. Johnny explains the Soulkiller conspiracy, tying into the theme of objectification in the game.īut Judy can’t seem to realize that what she’s doing is wrong. Judy’s work perpetuates objectification of human bodies and her willingness to contribute to the degradation of women (the Mox) also makes her sexist. The reality is, there’s no such thing as “good porn.” Porn is, by its very nature, dehumanizing. Worse still, V can actually bring up that BDs are objectifying in a conversation with Judy, and Judy responds that her BDs are ethical, almost like the writers were trying to cover their own asses. Harming someone, even with their “consent,” is still harming them. Porn is inherently objectifying in that it commodifies women. I hate to break it to people, but there’s no such thing as ethical porn. Instead, she encourages them to continue as prostitutes and even brings in more customers with her virtus (aka porn). Judy is framed as a “good person” for wanting to help the joytoys, but if she really wanted to help them, she would liberate them from being joytoys in the first place, help them start lives where they can be more than mere sex objects for pay. Well, being a lesbian with internalized sexism is something of a stereotype in itself. I mention further down that Judy is a stereotype. This was supposed to be another hint that the player should continue romancing Judy despite her childish behavior. Secondly, when you walk out of Lizzie’s, one of the bouncers will tell you flat-out that Judy likes you (if you are playing female V/ Valerie, obviously). This “cut scene” was scripted to play when you walked in so that you would get an idea of who Judy is as a person behind all the insults and sarcasm you are about to endure. When you first walk in Lizzie’s after the heist, you find Judy arguing with Susie about trying to rescue the joytoys and give them a better life. I feel like the game tries to drop hints that Judy is actually a good person and that she also likes V so that the player isn’t put off on romancing her. Regardless of the reason why, this is seriously messed up behavior, and the writer’s know it. She insults V, mocks her, curses her out. In fact, this is probably why she wanted to meet V in the first place: to gauge if she was capable of killing Deshawn.įor me, this is why Judy is so rude: she thinks that V figured out Evelyn’s plan to screw her, so she’s fiercely protective of Evelyn and refuses to help V find her. Once she met V, Evelyn probably realized that V was deadly enough to kill Deshawn for her. She wanted to cut Dex out of the equation because if she could turn Dex and V against each other, then she could get away Scott-free. Evelyn was probably going to sell the biochip, take all the money, and skip town. I actually have a theory that Evelyn had plans to screw V over.
